The Shoffice

The Shoffice is a small but deeply considered garden workspace designed to feel calm, warm and quietly uplifting. Created as a retreat from the main house, it brings together natural materials, soft colour and simple, thoughtful detailing to create a space that supports focus and ease.

Although modest in scale, the space underwent a full architectural upgrade. The entire structure was rebuilt with high performance insulation, new electrics, underfloor heating and improved ventilation, transforming it from a cold seasonal outbuilding into a fully functioning, year round workspace. New glazing and a large picture window frame the garden, allowing natural light to shift gently across the room throughout the day and maintaining a strong visual connection to nature.

Inside, every element has been designed with intention. The interior balances painted timber, textured fabrics and gentle curves to soften the architecture and create a sense of comfort. Bespoke joinery provides practical storage without overwhelming the room, allowing the space to remain open, uncluttered and visually restful. Carefully planned lighting, including warm ambient fixtures and discreet task lighting, ensures the room works beautifully from early morning to evening.

The palette is soft and layered, with warm neutrals and tactile finishes that encourage a slower pace. Subtle pattern and curated decorative pieces add character without distraction, making the Shoffice feel both personal and serene. It is a place where work feels lighter, creativity feels supported and time moves with a little more grace.

Designed as part of a wider residential project, the Shoffice reflects the same values that run throughout the home: clarity, craftsmanship and spaces that feel beautifully lived in. What began as a simple garden building is now a fully formed studio, used daily for writing, design work and quiet moments of escape.
